thai people who do wrong against family and friends make monk

maybe i not understand all but this what ive seen.1 st case family friend bangs his wife over money lost gambling and his drinking ,she leaves him he drinks himself stupid everyday father kicks him out of house he makes what thais call make monk which means no drinking smoking and prays with little food or comfort for at least a month he returns to family home and is wecomed back his slate is clean.[but wife not come back]2nd case friend of ours engaged to lovely lady he goes drinking ,gambling loses family scooter.wife to be leaves him he gets drunk every day has big fight with mother he booted from family home .books up big whisky bill our shop cannot pay [mother pays]he booted here to.he makes monk 3 months[ wow he did look healthy]he now welcomed back to mothers house turns up our shop i say to wife wtf she say he make monk all finished so we wecome him back girlfriend also returns and they now married.3rd case we have lady boy help in our shop.she have bad problem with whisky 3 times we take her to hospital with alc poisining.plus she so bad that when sharing a bottle with friends or customers she try drink all.i have no choise so i boot her.two months later she come back to shop like nothing happened wife tell me she make monk no drinking no smoking and she make comitment for 1 yr.slate clean welcome back.the effect on our shop has being that we no longer offer whisky etc [beer and wine coolers only] for sale and we close shop much earlier.seems like a good system that works.
