Subject: ADRA Thailand Keep Girls Safe Project Thu Oct 15, 2009 9:07 am
With the dubious reputation of being key recruiting grounds for domestic & international sex trafficking, Thailands Northern provinces are crying out for help & compassion. ADRAs Keep Girls Safe project works in collaboration with government agencies, local NGOs and community groups to raise awareness and reduce the vulnerability of women and girls to sexual exploitation and human trafficking. ADRA also provides a warm & loving shelter of refuge, psycho-social support, and educational opportunities for those at high risk resulting from abject poverty. abuse, abandonment, and parental deaths from HIV/AIDS.
This project is making a tremendous impact - sheltering around 30 girls who have been abused or are at high risk of being tafficked, as well as educational scholarships and community awareness raising activities to reduce the risk of children being trafficked. The reach of this project is to around 6,300 people. Due to the financial crisis it is in serious need of funds to be able to continue. Please help if you can.
