i,ve travelled to udon on the sleeper train from bkk a couple of times and found it comfortable and got a good nights sleep before i got to udon paid about 1200bt sleeper Icon_santa

Wow stokie, you must be very thin then, I got the train from surat thani to bangkok and it was the most hellish ride ive ever had, hardly a sleeper, more like a "waker" sleeper Icon_lol

Me and the missus needed a sleep after out sleep, i regret not getting the bus

1200 is also pretty steep when u can fly with air asia for a standard 1500 or so (i got a ticket last month for only 730baht) and the bus, which is only about 400

we all like different things i guess but i wont get a train in Thailand again in a hurry

maybe i was just lucky,i done train,bus plane and taxi,it just depends on what i fancy when the time comes and it gives you the chance to meet different people/i done sleeper 3 times and no complaints,do you know if there is a train from bkk to udon in the daytime?if so you got any details. sleeper Icon_santa

From what i can see here http://www.railway.co.th/English/Time_HTML.asp
There is one at 8.20am from Bangkok which is second class only... It takes a whopping ten hours to get to Udon, which is about the same as the slow bus and about two hours more than the "we dont stop in many places" bus...
