before i left nz i was told only eat at food places that have lot of customers and food directly off the bbq etc.thai people can eat anything no worries.but whats ok for them might make a farang very sick.i know farang who have been here for years and eat from street vendors etc no worries others have been very sick.check for cleanlyness.watch that raw meat isnt cut on a board then the cooked meat is cut up on same uncleaned board.bare handed handling of cooked food has to be risky as well.its also not uncommon to see food for sale covered with flys [i pass on that but dosnt worry thai people]some markets have meat for sale in a frig thats my go.ant eggs can cause a reaction same as food poisioning ,my wife and her friends were eating it ,1 got very sick [hospital 2 days]the rest were looking for more.most thais dont have a frig so everything is fresh from markets every day.my wife is very hardy and eats all.but even she got food poisioning last week[wild bird].range of fresh veg and fruit is great.beef is tough but makes good stews etc ,pork is good quality, good cheap seafood [farmed]you can get at local markets live fish ,eels .shimp.fresh squid and prawns at a fraction of the price back home.dishes with fermented fish [or raw fish]is a no no.alot of areas here ,the fish have worms that get into your liver and after many years cause cancer.well cook your food .the thais almost burn meat ,fish etc i guess to kill bugs .i eat pretty much same as home i cook roasts, fish and chips ,stews, hamburgers ,bbq chicken, with fresh greens and bread.over all thailand offers great food at low prices just a little caution required.
