| Mystery continues to surround the sexual assault and subsequent death of a 2 year old child on Friday Night. The prime suspect in the case, the child’s legal guardian, Khun Pornchai aged 34 was called to Banglamung Police Station on Sunday Afternoon to discuss the case and attempt to explain aspects of the death which were still not clear. Initial claims that Khun Pornchai, a transsexual, had undergone gender-reassignment surgery were confirmed by a female police officer which in-turn confirmed that he could not have taken part in penetrative sex with the child. Bite marks on the child’s body were apparently caused during playful exchanges between him and the child and in no way hurt the child, according to Khun Pornchai. Two outstanding issues relate to the sexual assault and cause of death, and as part of the investigation, Banglamung Police have attempted to contact the biological parents of the child, without success. Khun Pornchai vehemently denies any involvement in the death of the child and Police do not have any concrete evidence to charge anyone over the incident at this time. Forensic Doctors have informed Police that the results of the full post mortem examination will not be known for at least 30 days. Despite this, investigations are ongoing. Further update on Child death and Sexual Assault case from East Pattaya24th May 2011 Investigations into the tragic death of a 2 year old child under the care of his transsexual legal guardian are continuing. The Police Region 2 Child and Women Protection Unit has taken over the case and has now received the initial report from the forensic lab suggesting the child died of respiratory arrest. Allegations of the child being sexually assaulted were still being investigated but are not thought to have directly led to the death of the child. Other tests are continuing, especially in relation to bodily fluids found in the anal passage of the boy. On Monday Afternoon, Khun Pornchai, the legal guardian of the child presented himself to the Police Station and received permission from the Police to proceed with the funeral. A death certificate was issued for the boy and permission from Pattaya City Hall was obtained to collect the body of the boy from the Police Forensic Institute in Bangkok. It was confirmed that all samples for analysis had been completed and were currently being tested. Child Welfare Services are also involved in the investigations and questioned Khun Pornchai on the bite marks found on the body. He confessed to playfully biting the child and even confirmed that he playfully bit the child’s penis on occasion but stressed there was no sexual reasons for doing this. The allegations of sperm inside the child’s anal passage were also discussed and test results on the white colored liquid have yet to be analyzed. For this reason Police are reserving judgment on this aspect of the investigation and are also suggesting that an object may have been placed inside the boy which caused an infection which looked similar to sperm. Khun Pornchai has still not been charged with any crime in relation to the death and is now on his way to Udon Thani Province where the funeral and cremation will take place. | |
