Dodgy Thai Woman Stopped by Customs with Hidden Cash

Interesting case here... this well dressed Thai woman who had come to the UK for a 3 month holiday, or so she claims, was stopped by Customs and found to have a very large amount of cash hidden away in her luggage. It's highly suspect for a person to be carrying so much cash on them like this when leaving the UK. It's also very suspicious the way the cash was wrapped up and hidden as though to avoid detection. If you wanted to use a large amount of spending money during a visit to the UK for legitimate purposes, surely you would simply use a bank card or foreign travellers cheques like everyone else. You could also have the money wired to any bank in the UK before or after you left Thailand. Not only did she persistently lie about how much cash she had, but she was quite evasive when questioned and initially wouldn't provide any proof of where the money came from. Until that is it was about to be seized and then she became quite aggressive. Conveniently she produced a Thai bank savings book showing withdrawals and the Customs officer then had no choice but to let her leave with the cash. This seems a very lapse way of preventing money laundering. Who is to say she didn't have cash on deposit with a Thai bank which she withdrew and kept in Thailand. She could of then travelled to the UK to take out an equal amount of illegal money from drugs or prostitution activities.
