Two radio show hosts of a community radio in the northeastern province of Udon Thani were on Thursday sentenced to one year and six months jail term without suspension in connection with the arson attacks on the city hall and the municipality office building on May 19.
They are Prasit Wichairat, 53, a native of Na Klang district of Nong Bua Lamphu, and Jakrapong Saenkham, 23, of Udon Thani's Nong Han district, show hosts of the 97.5 FM community radio and close aides of Kwanchai Praipana, who surrendered to police on May 19 after the end of the red-shirt protest at Ratchaprasong in Bangkok.
The two, wanted under arrest warrants, surrendered to police on June 2.
The Udon Thani District Court on found the two guilty of violating the emergency decree by urging the people through their radio programes to stage an uprising, leading to the torching of the city hall and municipality office building on May 19 in violation of the emergency decree.
The court sentenced each of them to one and a half years in jail without suspension.
