Suzuki Motor Corp said Tuesday it will commence construction of a plant in Thailand to produce eco-friendly cars. Suzuki is planning to invest 20 billion yen on building the plant that will have facilities for pressing, welding, painting, assembly and engine production, it said.
The company said it will hold a ground-breaking ceremony for the plant at the Hemaraj Eastern Seaboard Industrial Estate in Rayong Province, about 200 kilometers southeast of Bangkok, on Monday. Suzuki plans to start production of 1.3-liter cars at the plant in March 2012 and to produce 10,000 units by the end of December of that year.
